With the 2010 Summer Shoot-Out in the books, the action at Concord Speedway ¼-mile has started back up.  Friday night the car to beat in the Pro division was the No. 84 of Kyle Beattie.  Kyle won his heat race and started on the pole for his feature race.  He lost the lead early in the race but not for long.  Once he regained the top spot he managed to open up a comfortable lead and take the win.

In the Young Lion’s division, the No. 18 of Spencer Boyd ran well finishing third in his heat race.  After a rough hard-fought feature race, he brought home a fourth place finish.  It was another good night for Beattie Racing.

Kyle Beattie Racing had a strong showing in the most anticipated race of the year.  A guaranteed $250,000 to the winner brought out drivers young and old to give it their best shot at the prize money.  KBR had fourteen cars under their banner that made for a very hectic four days.  Five KBR drivers were locked into their prospective feature races after their qualifying and heat races were run.  In the Semi-Pro/Young Lions division, Jake Knight and Spencer Boyd had to navigate a wet track in their 50-lap feature and finished 7th and 12th respectively.  The Master’s division ran their race on a wet track as well and in the 50-lap race, the legendary Will Cagle let everyone know that he can still get the job done at age 72 by bringing home an impressive 3rd place finish with David Denham finishing 10th.  The final event of the weekend was for the big prize money and there were 144 drivers entered with their sights set on one of the 34 starting spots.  Kyle was locked into the feature event with a 19th place qualifying run.  When the green flag flew, it was 100 laps of intense racing with no room for error.  Kyle drove a great race and brought home a 12th place finish.  Congrats to all the drivers and thanks to the entire crew for their countless hours spent in the shop and at the track in preparation for this event.

In just his third try at running the rookie race at Charlotte Motor Speedway, new KBR driver Spencer Boyd managed to pull off a win.  Boyd started his car on the pole and got a good jump on the lead when the field came to take the green.  There was contact between some cars behind him and that allowed Spencer to open up a sizable lead while everyone else got sorted out.  Boyd led the race flag to flag and brought home his first win in the Young Lion’s division.

KBR semi-pro driver Jake Knight (#93) visited victory lane on Tuesday evening at round two of Charlotte Motor Speedway’s Summer Shoot-Out.  Jake started his heat race in 5th as a result of the draw and drove to a 2nd place finish.  He lined up 4th for the feature race and as soon as he took the green flag, he started picking off cars one at a time until he was soon hunting down the leader.  Just before the half-way mark, Jake took the lead and began to pull away from the field.  He had a comfortable lead when a caution came out and bunched the field up again.  Jake took the lead on the re-start and drove a solid race to the checkered flags.  Congratulations, Jake!
